It is Lowland through and through: the spirit runs light and clean, which is precisely why the red wine casks land the way they do. There is room for them to speak. Where a heavier Highland or island malt might swallow that influence, here it sits right on the surface.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe nose opens with vanilla fudge and baked apple, then cinnamon and gingerbread, with orchard fruit — peach, plum, a little nectarine — and a lift of orange blossom over the top. The palate is rich and mouthcoating: juicy raisin, golden syrup, baked apple, a thread of dark chocolate and caramel, and the soft tannic grip those wine casks leave behind. It finishes sweet and warm before the oak gently dries everything out.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAn easy whisky to love.
